In 1999 The Government carried out an appalling experiment (the Krebs experiment) although a better name might be the Cretins experiment, to find out whether or not destroying badgers in controlled areas would result in fewer cases of bovine tuberculosis (TB) in cattle.

20,000 badgers were killed in this experiment and, even though the majority of badgers do not carry the disease, they were still killed. This appalling inhumane experiment cost us the taxpayers a staggering £30.9 million. Yet only £1.4 million was spent in researching the better alternative!
